Infrastructure Week will take place May 13-20, 2019. Since 2013, this national initiative encourages organizations and individuals across the country to make the case for investing in the transportation, water, energy, and communications systems that keep America competitive, prosperous, and safe. To kick off Infrastructure Week, the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) and Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) are co-hosting a media event, “The State of Our Infrastructure”, on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 2:00 – 3:30 pm. The event will take place at Sandy Springs City Hall, 1 Galambos Way, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
The purpose of this event will be to present information about municipal and county infrastructure needs to media representatives, including highlighting success stories and examples of infrastructure projects of various types (transportation, water and sewer, stormwater, etc.) in cities and counties and underscoring the need for federal-state-local partnership to address critical infrastructure needs. The session will include a series of rapid fire presentations by city and county officials including Union City Mayor and GMA 2nd Vice President Vince Williams, Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul, Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann, Peachtree City Mayor Vanessa Fleisch, and a representative of the Georgia Department of Transportation, as well as a tour of the City of Sandy Springs’ traffic management center. Also invited to attend are Georgia Association of Water Professionals, American Public Works Association – Georgia Chapter, American Society of Civil Engineers – Georgia Section, Georgia Environmental Financing Authority, USDA Rural Development, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Georgia Department of Community Affairs, U.S. Economic Development Administration, Georgia Rural Water Association, and the Atlanta Region Transit Link (ATL) Authority.
We hope your schedule will permit you to attend this event. Please RSVP to btaylor@gmanet.com by May 10, 2019 and feel free to contact me for any questions.
