Named in honor of former GMA President and Mayor of the city of Thomson from 1979-2007, the Robert E. Knox, Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute is an intensive multi-day seminar that focuses on helping city officials enhance and sharpen their leadership skills. Facilitated in part by a nationally recognized training development consultant, the Leadership Institute includes an interactive simulation exercise that confronts participants with the daily problems of governing and ultimately demonstrates the necessity of communication and collaboration in achieving good governance.
Municipal elected officials and city managers/assistant city managers will receive six hours of training credit through the Municipal Training Institute for completing the course. Participants must attend the entire session (including the orientation and opening dinner) in order to receive credit. No Spouses/Guests at meals and sessions please.
Completion of the Municipal Leadership Institute is required for municipal elected officials to receive a Certificate of Excellence, Certificate of Distinction and Certificate of Dedication.
The registration fee is $650 and covers all course materials, one dinner, two lunches, three breakfasts and numerous refreshment breaks. Enrollment is limited so that participants can have a full exchange of ideas with instructors and other municipal officials. All cancellations after March 15 will be assessed a $50 administrative fee. No refund will be given for cancellations after March 28.
