Georgia Innovative Highway Safety Grant Programs

The Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety has made grant funds available to promote the development and implementation of innovative programs to address highway safety problems relating to alcohol/impaired driving, pedestrian & bicycle safety, motorcycle safety, occupant protection and traffic records. Proposed programs must be data-driven, based on proven countermeasures, and must address one or more of the following issues:

  • Underage Drinking Prevention Programs 
  • Young Adult Drinking and Driving Program
  • Traffic Records
  • High-Visibility Law Enforcement Programs
  • Minority Outreach Highway Safety Programs
  • Occupant Protection Programs
  • Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Programs
  • Older Drivers and Passengers Outreach
  • Motorcycle Safety Education Program
  • Administrative Judges Programs.

Those interested in becoming a grantee for the first time must attend the following mandatory Applicants Training session:

Potential grantees/partners within the State of Georgia include, but are not limited to:

  • local law enforcement agencies
  • county health departments
  • high schools (private and public)
  • colleges and universities (private and public)
  • faith-based communities, citizen groups, civic organizations, churches
  • county councils
  • mayors
  • EMS
  • county agencies
  • not-for-profit organizations (i.e. Safe Kids of Georgia, MADD, etc. and others).
