This bill would give law enforcement agencies the option to either destroy or sell certain firearms after final judgement is entered and a defendant is found guilty while illegally possessing a weapon. SB 323 would also change the weapon auction period from12 months to six months and if there are no bids during the allotted period, the firearm shall be transferred to the GBI, or a municipal or county law enforcement forensic laboratory for training or experimental purposes or the weapon can be destroyed.
