This bill would:

• Strike the terms “land surveyor” and “land surveyor-in-training” replacing them with “professional land surveyor” and “surveyor intern” respectively;
• Changes the minimum requirements for certification as a surveyor intern by decreasing the requisite number of hydrology courses;
• Adds a “hydrology and design authorized” record to the license of those who complete additional three semester hours of coursework in hydrology.
• Adds an exemption for officers or employees of state or local governments, regional commissions or utility authorities who engage in gathering, processing, managing, and sharing of geospatial and photogrammetric data for cataloging or mapping purposes; 
• Adds an exemption for highway contractors that perform layouts and measurements; and
• Adds a penalty for falsely advertising as a professional land surveyor.
