 The purpose of the proposed legislation is to define the maximum length (100 feet) and load of vehicles; provide methods for determining load limits for vehicles utilizing idle reduction technology (maximum 500 pound variance); authorize the Department of Transportation, with the approval of the board, to designate “FlexAuto lanes”, which would allow the shoulder or emergency lane to be converted to a travel lane during rush hour traffic. In addition, the proposed legislation would clarify the meaning of certain flashing signals; and provide rules of the road when approaching or entering an intersection with a traffic light in inactivated/ dark mode.
