Subject Area: Taxation | Transportation |

House Bill 134 would amend current law which authorizes a county and cities within a county to call for a transportation sales tax of up to 1% (if certain conditions are met) in the following ways:
  • It would authorize T-SPLOST funds to be used on state projects; and
  • It would authorize multiple fractional T-SPLOSTs to be in place at one time in increments of .05% so long as the combined rate of all T-SPLOST levies do not exceed 1%.
Should the bill become law, it would be effective upon signature of the Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval which would conceivably give counties and cities time to prepare for T-SPLOST referendums to be held as early as November 2017.
