Planning, Land Use, and Community Design

This chapter takes city officials through the planning process beginning first with a description of the comprehensive plan, then moving on to the development and implementation of it. The chapter concludes with a discussion of land use and regional planning.
 
 
About the Author
Annaka Woodruff works for the Office of Sustainable Development at the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. This section focuses specifically on the areas of community design, zoning ordinances, and comprehensive planning. Annaka has worked for the Department of Community Affairs since 1998, first serving as the Regional Representative in Savannah before moving to the Office of Planning and Quality Growth in 2004. During her tenure in the Regional Office, Annaka learned first-hand the specific issues of small local governments facing rapid population and land development changes. Annaka was educated at Emory University and the Georgia Institute of Technology, in political science and city planning and is a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional.
