Union City Connects To State and Federal Officials with Hometown Connection

Union City, in partnership with GMA, recently hosted its 2014 Hometown Connection event. The program culminated into a meeting with county, state, and federal officials for the purpose of sharing critical information regarding initiatives designed to move the city forward. Participants included Representative Sharon Beasley Teague (D-Red Oak), Chandra Harris, district director, Office of Congressman David Scott, Fulton County Chairman John Eaves and Fulton County Commissioner Emma Darnell. Also in attendance were representatives from GMA, CSX, Dendreon, Majestic and the Georgia Department of Transportation.
“In order to foster sustainability and community engagement, it is imperative that Union City build and maintain partnerships with local, state and congressional leaders,” said Union City Mayor Vince Williams. “Hometown Connection is just one of many events that the city will host to strengthen this alliance.
During the Hometown Connections, Union City officials highlighted the city’s most recent budget and discussed plans to market and promote the city and economic development incentives.
Additional topics included capital im­provement projects, fire and public safety initiatives and plans for future growth.
Officials ended the meeting by touring the city as well as Dendreon, Christian City, South Fulton Parkway, the former Shannon Mall and the Proctor & Gamble site.
