Cities, county present final SPLOST project lists

Medical center requests annexation into Demorest
At the March 5 Demorest City Council meeting, Sammy Smith, with the city’s Gainesville-based public relations firm Rainmaker & Associates, announced the city had received a request from Habersham Medical Center to have its core campus and peripheral properties annexed into the city limits.

Commission revisits shedding water system
The Habersham County Water and Sewerage Authority held its regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Jan. 8, albeit briefly.
The approximately five minute official portion of the meeting included one item – that the Habersham County Commission planned on having Demorest take over the county’s water system.
