LOST compromise reached
Effingham County and the cities of Rincon, Springfield and Guyton have reached a compromise for the distribution of local-option sales tax (LOST) money.

Requests for sales tax money are conservative
Effingham County is asking for the sales tax distribution to remain the same as it has been for the last 10 years. Rincon and Guyton are asking for a slightly larger share of the 1-cent-per-dollar local-option sales tax (LOST), as is Springfield.

Judge sets LOST schedule

City council members in Guyton voted unanimously this morning to join the county, Springfield and Rincon in collecting an excise tax on energy used in manufacturing.
