National League of Cities

The National League of Cities is the oldest and largest national organization representing municipal governments throughout the United States. Its mission is to strengthen and promote cities as centers of opportunity, leadership, and governance.

NLC's membership includes all 49 state municipal leagues and approximately 1,800 direct member cities, towns and villages of all size throughout the nation. In Georgia, 57 cities participate in NLC as direct members.

NLC conducts two national conventions annually - the Congress of Cities which is held in December in a different city each year and the Congressional City Conference which is held in March in Washington, DC. The Congress of Cities serves as NLC's "annual convention" and offers a broad range of learning opportunities combined with conducting organizational business. The Congressional City Conference is NLC's annual legislative conference designed to inform local officials about federal priorities affecting cities and towns and initiate NLC's grassroots advocacy work with the current Congress and administration.
