DCA to Adopt New Comprehensive Planning Rules

August 30, 2012

The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) has been working with GMA and other partners to review and make needed revisions to Georgia's comprehensive planning requirements. Proposed revisions will be acted on by the DCA Board on November 7, 2012.  If adopted by the Board, the will become effective on January 1, 2013.

GMA encourages city officials to review the proposed rules and comment on them by attending one of the two public hearings that will be held, by mail or by email.

GMA believes that DCA has made every attempt to make the new standards flexible as possible for Georgia's cities and counties. DCA has also agreed to direct the Regional Commissions to prepare the basic plan at no additional charge to every city and county in the state that asks for the regional commission help.
