How Do I Search For Bills?

The Legislative Reporting System will allow you to search for bills any number of ways:

All Legislation - if you click on this link, you'll get a listing of all bills GMA is reporting on. The bills will be organized by subject. All bills (except local legislation, see below) will be grouped within a subject heading.

Bill Number - if you know the number of a bill GMA is reporting on - for example, HB100, SB250, HR1001 or SR750 - you can enter it in and pull up the GMA write-up on that bill. If you enter a bill that GMA is not reporting on, you will get a message indicating that there is not a GMA write-up for that piece of legislation.

Date Added/Updated - this option allows you to find all legislation GMA has added or updated within the last number of days you indicate. For example, if you come up to the site and want to see all the bills that GMA has added/updated within the last 3 days, you would simply enter 3 in the search box.

Subject Area - select a subject area and see a list of all bills related to that subject.

Keywords - this option allows you to find bills by searching for keywords.

Local Legislation - this option lists all bills that are local in nature. Local legislation deals with individual cities, counties, schools and authorities. GMA provides this listing of local legislation as a service to its members. While every effort has been made to list all relevant legislation, some bills and resolutions not listed may have been introduced affecting a particular municipal government. GMA does not lobby the Georgia General Assembly on local bills and resolutions. For further information on any of the legislation listed, please contact the bill's author(s).
